Popular Post Ryan Posted December 5, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 5, 2021 A musician friend in Cuba, Roxy Moreno, played the Bond Roberts launch party in Havana in February 2020. Since then (like all musicians everywhere) she has been having a hard time with no live music due to Covid, except there are no "pandemic payments" in Cuba to keep musicians going, like most of the western world. My wife had the idea to ask her to write a song for my son's birthday, who is studying spanish, as a commission. I put together this video for his Spanish class. I think the song turned out really well. The photos in the second half are from my family trip to Cuba in 2018. There is wind noise in the first bit. I had a wind cancelling mic with me in Cuba for this kind of thing, but it only fits an iPhone and my iPhone "went away" on this trip. That afternoon I asked Roxy if she would come out with us, I was having dinner with Machín and Daryl and Dayanis, my neighbours from Jaimanitas. She (very shyly) asked if she could bring her friend. We had a fantastic night with Machín telling stories of drunk cigar smokers.. Plus I think there is a new cigar client out of it. I won't appreciate rude comments and I bear grudges. 12
