Newair wine fridge humidor project

Update: The guy who sold me this had the RH up above 70 when I got it so I am removing some of that to stabilize it with Damprid. I am also monitoring the RH in my place so I can make an assessment there as well. This thing probably isn't 100% airtight. I also removed one of the drawers. I plan on removing another once the boxes start rolling in!

Target goal for me is around 64/65 but I know better than to not be flexible here. I will update in a couple weeks. I have read a lot about the cons of having a wineador for long term storage but I really like this thing. I have it unplugged for now as my temps in my house are around 65 right now.

Careful with the damprid.  I've use to use that in my gunsafe.  Mine had a fragrance to it, not sure if that will alter anything.  Looks like your just up the coast from me.  I'm here in SoCal, 3min from the water.  My little NewAir is perfect now.  It stays at 64/64-65 unpluged during the winter time.

When I first started and over seasoned the cedar shelves with distilled water, I just opened the door to correct. I think our climate and humidity are similar. Monterey/Redondo?  Pretty arid here still even though we are close to water.  Oh and btw, I'm currently shopping and researching for a vault cabinet style humidor.  I've since overflowed into a pelican cooler, lol.

Thanks for the tips! The damprid I bought is fragrance free. Got my humidor sitting at 64/63 at the moment. I ordered a pound and a half of heartfelt beads. Those should arrive any day now. Yeah I bet our humidity is close. My place sits at around 60% right now. I will toss in a couple boveda packs . Got the unit unplugged for now as well. 👍

Haha . Yeah that happens. I have an RTIC at the ready and some tupperdor solutions for overflow. Where I live lacks the space to fit a cabinet as of now. I have too many records and books.

@Ford2112 Whats the record on the right?

That would be the great Frank Zappa. Sheik Yerbouti . It's one for the ages! Stacked behind it are all my other Zappa records, some Iggy Pop,Alice Cooper,Mountain,Judas Priest, and some Morbid Angel.
