Juliano88 Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 What's going on everyone. Just wanted to get an opinion and maybe some relief from the community. I have two Audew 300 coolers which I store 14 boxes of CC's in each at 65/65 As my collection continues to grow, I have been storing overflow boxes in a coleman cooler in my home office with 62 rh bovedas inside. Issue is I live in sunny Arizona and can't keep temps below 73-75. Have not frozen any boxes yet and store with NC's as well. I understand high temps speed up the fermentation process and could negatively impact the profile of the cigar, but I will be buying an Aristocrat cabinet next summer which will solve all of my storage problems. Anyone else storing boxes at high temps? If so have you frozen your stock? Any beetle issues? I appreciate the feedback guys!
slowsmoke Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I stopped using refrigeration years ago because it was just too inconsistent for my taste. Since then I store at room temp, which will occasionally touch mid-high 70's in the summer, and I can't tell any difference at all. If anything, my RH levels are rock solid now, which I think makes them smoke better. 3
OrangePaw Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I’m not brave enough to let temperatures go above 70’s but also not convinced that it hurts anything. I’ve decided to invest in refrigerator humidor just to remove all dought. 1

Just wanting to hold out until next summer when I get my cabinet. 5 hours ago, slowsmoke said: I stopped using refrigeration years ago because it was just too inconsistent for my taste. People forget that pilones during fermentation reach 100+ degrees and they’re able to keep any issues at bay. Just always curious to see how other people feel about this. 1
B44 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Have you removed any of the shelves in your Audew? If not, pull a couple out to make some room.

Yes sir I have. I had 17 boxes in each Audew, but the problem was the boxes were blocking the fan so there was poor air circulation. I was setting temps at 62 and it would keep a temp level of 67-70. Plus I have over 15 boxes of overflow so I had to figure something out.

Not sure if you’ve tried moving your rh/temp gauge around you’ll get very different results top/mid/bottom. FWIW I think your sticks will be fine as long as you keep the rh down to mid 60’s. Just keep them in a marine cooler inside the house where they’re safe in the a/c. 1

I remember when I started smoking years ago, I told a buddy that I don’t need a big humidor and that I just need a travel box since I won’t keep more than 20 cigars at a time 😂😂 1
