Mikey Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I just got a message offering a four pack of this winerys "good stuff"(Shiraz,Grenache).A bit expensive ($149.00) ,but they are rated very highly in several publications. Is anyone familiar with these guys from Oz? Ken?
billyburg Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I got info from Hi-Time cellars on the 4 pack. It says Parker rated them between 90-94. Parkers ratings are pretty dependable. I'm considering. Info from some locals would be nice.
billyburg Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 You are correct. He doesn't give out 98's easily. I'd like to get 2 4 packs so I could see how it evolves after 5 years then 7- 10 years.

billyburg Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I had to order. Hi Times wine store won't commit to my order until they verify actual stock on hand. Got the email at 1:30 and just called at 4:15!
skid11 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Have'nt tried them myself Mikey but this Clare valley wine won't dissapoint. Always gets solid reviews. These reds from the Clare would need a little bottle aging to bring out the best say drinking around 2015......... Check out this site [link]http://www.kilikanoon.com.au[/link] Nice with a Monte 2 ...................... from the czar of course.;-)
billyburg Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 gotta a call that i got a 4-pack! Too bad they wouldn't let me have 2.
Ken Gargett Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 » I just got a message offering a four pack of this winerys "good » stuff"(Shiraz,Grenache).A bit expensive ($149.00) ,but they are rated very » highly in several publications. Is anyone familiar with these guys from Oz? » Ken? personally have seen very little of these guys but they are highly rated by a lot of people. will check with one of my mates from the region (tho he is away at the moment) to see what thoughts i can get from the locals. parker is a reasonable guide but, like anyone, he has preferred wineries and wine styles, and as far as aussie shiraz goes, these are the massive, often high extract and alcohol styles. nothing wrong with that but if you are following him then make sure you like that style. i do, to an extent, but they can become difficult with food. that is not to say that comment applies to these wines as, as i mentioned, i see very little of them. think they are one of many wineries who concentrate on overseas markets, especially the states. i see huon has been very positive. that is a good sign - he has an excellent palate and is much more at the subtle, elegant end of the wine spectrum than parker, which is the end i tend to as well, so if they both like it, good omen.
billyburg Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I'd appreciate any info Ken. I know it will be years before these will be approachable but hopfully it will worth the wait.
