Popular Post El Presidente Posted August 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 17, 2021 I still regret not keeping one of these. I loved the humidor. If anyone can find some good images of them, please post up on this thread. From memory we were selling them for $800 USD. It was an insane price at the time. Habanos S.A. presents the Romeo and Julieta Humidor: A fine masterpiece especially designed for celebrating the130th anniversary of the brand. Only 250 numbered red-lacquered humidors with a nice presentation bearing the logo of the brand on the top will be released to the market, this way enhancing the exclusivity of this manufacture. The origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Habano date back to 1875, Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers the widest range of totally hand made, long filler sizes available in any Habano brand. Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region makes it the classic medium-bodied Habano. Popular Post ATGroom Posted August 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2021 I'm not sure if this event lives on in the memory of the old timers on the forum, but this humidor was the prize in the first FoH poker tournament. I was about 23 at the time. I had been smoking since I was 18, mostly Monte 4s at parties. The summer prior I had taken a trip to Cuba where I'd bought some peso cigars off a roller's table in a little factory in Trinidad, some fake Esplendidos from a street tout, and then a box of Siglo IVs from an actual store. Loved them all and joined FoH and started to get into the hobby seriously not long after that. I had never really played poker before, but somehow I won the first game ever played when Rob launched the forum table. We used to play multiple games daily in those days. I was still at uni with a lot of free time, and would play in a many of them. I had won my heat in the tournament, but by the time the final came around three weeks later I was backpacking around France. I had to find a 24/7 web cafe to play in it as it was scheduled for 2am Paris time and wifi in hostels and smartphones weren't a thing in those days. I was doing alright when a spades flush hand came along, and the bets started getting pretty big with two other players, who both clearly had the flush and thought they had the highest card. When the cards were down, I had the ace, and the others had the king and queen. That hand left me in heads up with a much bigger stack than my opponent, and about four hands later I had won. All of which is to say, at that point in my cigar journey I was absolutely undeserving an aniversario humidor. I doubt I'd even smoked an LE yet - my other humidor was a cheap desktop I'd bought on eBay and my "collection" would have been maybe 50 cigars, of which half were the aforementioned fake Espies. It was another few years before I would get in contact with Trevor and start working on CCW... and things escalated from there. I swapped half the Romeos for a Siglo VI GR box when those were first released. Most of the others have been handed out at various herfs over the years. Still have a handful left of each. They are fantastic cigars. The humi these days mostly holds various exotic singles I've picked up over the years. Aside from its looks, it's always been great - solid wood, and holds temp and humidity with near 0 fuss. Only thing I will say is the electronic hygrometer it came with is total junk. Discharges any battery you put in it within a day. So thanks Rob! Not just one of the best looking limited humidors, for me at least it was a cornerstone of my cigar journey. 25
