El Presidente Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Rumours abound about the release by Habanos of 5 year old Partagas D 4. The Partagas will be the first of a series of "aged" releases which will be commercially available continuously. No idea about pricing or exact timing as yet but I should find out a little more about what is happening when I am in Havana for the festival at the end of the month. I never stop working

PSD4 reserva (3year aged) to be released pretty soon (end of 1st quarter of -05) and gran reserva (5 year aged) late -05 release??? This is a rumour that has been floating around on some forums and it would be cool if it can be comfirmed..
El Presidente Posted February 10, 2005 Author Posted February 10, 2005 There is two versions that I have been told: 3 and 5 years 5 and 10 years. I will confirm which is correct ont the forum from Havana next week. The truth is out there and I will leave no stone unturned

Curmudgeon Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I've heard it said that the Reservas are hearty smokes . . . like the D4s of yore!

Tampa1257 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Having just recently smoked and reviewed a 1994 Partagas SD4, I am really looking forward to trying these aged Partagas'.
El Presidente Posted February 10, 2005 Author Posted February 10, 2005 » Having just recently smoked and reviewed a , I am really » looking forward to trying these aged Partagas'. Tampa....have a go at the 1994 Partagas SD4 review here. We would love to see it.
CastleCrest Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 From what I heard the wrappers are being aged and not the filler. I am not saying this is true:-| just saying what I heard. Looking forward to hearing more on this! On a side note - Tampa's reviews are first rate! He writes very well and can express his experience perfectly! Sad to say I also had one of those 1994 SD4 and it was very off. Something wasn't right and it smoked very bitter:-(
CastleCrest Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 first of a series of "aged" releases which will be commercially available continuously. I had head this would be a limited release - would like to know if these will be availiable continuously??? Also are these cigars from aged bales or aged rolled cigars???

I can't wait for Tampa to get some of these so I can make a feeble mooch atempt! It is his passion for Partagas that has gotten me to buy more and more. Now I am becoming hooked on them.:-D 1
Ken Gargett Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 hi all will try and get back on to these and all the other gems from havana as soon as i get some sleep but the word is that the whole thing will be 5 years. will be 5000 boxes only (not a LE but a reserva - same sort of special release as the cohiba selection). will only be 20 to a box and it will a 'special' type of box but any more is speculation at the moment.
Cohiba007 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I have heard these will be around $1000 a box and very difficult to get. El Presidente Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 5000 cigars only in the release. 20 per box in a stunning box presentation. 5 year all aged tobacco. Fakes already on the Havana streets as well as in overseas markets. Official release in May...will be expensive....sworn to secrecy on the taste test  1
