Popular Post teamrandr Posted July 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2021 A BOTL sent me a few Davidoff to try. I must say I was blown away by the generosity. This cigar is well rolled. It sports a beautiful a rather light wrapper. Reminiscent of a CBL. The aroma at cold is subtle. Slight vanilla, cocoa, barnyard tobacco, touch of honey. A beautiful cigar that has a firm feel to it and appears to have great construction. The aroma is telltale Dominican tobacco. Reminiscent of Ashtons regular offerings. Not one to smoke NC I am on the fence going in. The band on this cigar is beautiful. It's been another crazy week for me in the cafe and I am ready to unwind. I have a solid 2 hours to kill before the wife takes over my life. 1/3 I have to note that toasting this cigar is not as pleasant as many of the CC I smoke routinely. I was warned not to let the wrapper fool me. That some of these Davidoff are bold. Initial draws are surprisingly spicy. Black pepper, cloves, cinnamon all present. I am hoping this will settle in and balance out as this progresses. The vanilla notes from the cold aroma are not present so far. Draws are absolutely perfect. Bit of a nicotine kick out of the gates. I hope this thing settles in and gets some complexity. So far it's full blown spice. 2/3 Ask and you shall receive? In comes a creaminess. Touch of creme brulee with notes of cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. Looking forward as this progresses. Retrohale highlights a touch of chocolate creme. Spice is lingers on the palate. I smoke 99.9% CC. That is probably why this one is spicy to me. So black pepper, cinnamon, cloves all mixed with a vanilla creaminess. Halfway The lingering spice is playing front runner. Underneath it all lies some vanilla and cream. Not sure how old this example is but all indicators tell me this one has legs to age for many years. Final 3rd I must tilt my hat. While not complex this cigar has delivered all around. Outstanding construction, and beautiful draws. As this one moves towards the finish it gains more cream. This is a surprise that is welcome. Score 9/10 Took me 1 and a half hours to smoke. Really nice cigar and a good change up from my usual CC habits. 7
Wookie Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Nice review. Isn’t this the same blend as the 702, except the 702 sports a different wrapper? they are both excellent cigars with the 702 really showing how much the wrapper can influence the cigar….goes from medium to full bodied with just the wrapper.
smbauerllc Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Great review. I have recently bought about 8 different Davidoffs/zinos, and the appearance and construction has been perfect on all I have had so far (as it should be considering the price of them)Haven't enjoyed the taste of about half the Davidoffs but everything else about them was perfect. So far, the Zinos have been much more to my liking Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
