Current Sydney Lockdown - June/July 2021 (It's not all bad)

You may not be aware that Sydney has just gone into a hard lockdown for two weeks. All of its 5.5 million residents need to stay-at-home except for the usual work, essential shopping, medical care and special compassionate provisions. I have to admire El Pres' ingenuity in organising upcoming 24:24 sales when he temporarily can't personally travel interstate for the next two weeks (as the warehouse is in Sydney). Well done, Rob! 😉

For Sydneysiders, this has cynically come at the worst time as many families go on regional and interstate trips during the mid-year School Holidays, which began two days ago. However, we can appreciate how difficult it is to contain the delta variant of the Coronavirus, hence the current measures.

As for me, I have no reason to have regrets. This time will pass and eventually life will get back to (semi) normal. In fact, as I can't go anywhere I now have the opportunity to smoke through the following eclectic range of cigars for my 2021 Smoking Diary (n.b. I've already smoked through six of them!).

I look forward to jumping onto ZOOM more often too. Join us today at Midday (10 pm US EST). No doubt El Pres will be leading the laughs! 😁

Best of luck to our Aus friends. I’m telling you — for those of you that want it come to the states. They’re handing out vaccines on street corners. Sorry that you all are going through this again.

Different approach. When there's just a few community cases our states start to impose restrictions/lockdowns very quickly.

We have over 130 active cases of the Delta strain and contact tracers are barely keeping up, as it has spread very quickly. Some of the contact has been fleeting, with someone catching it just walking through the airspace of an infected person, vacated moments before.

Considering our Fed Govt has screwed up the vaccine roll out, we're going into lockdown to snuff out the spread. Honestly, our premier acted too late again, taking the laid back approach as she doesn't want to be seen like her counterpart the Wicked Witch of the North Palaszczuk.
