Popular Post havanaclub Posted May 30, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2021 Haven’t touched a QD54 in a while so I grabbed this from the humidor, gave it a punch and off we go. Paired with some BiB 1792. Draw: was perfect with very little resistance. Hay and pepper on the cold draw. 1st: opens with pepper, hay with some bitterness. After about 10 draws or so, it smoothed out to a woody, sweet creamy note. 2nd: this cigar went from being smooth with a sweet cedar, bread to harsh bitter with some pepper. 3rd: got some hay, bread and more bitterness towards the end. Construction and burn was excellent. I was expecting a little more from this, as I had a very similar experience with my last one I had. I must say, the first 4-5 I have had were excellent all the way through. Maybe this is a sick period... I will forget about this box for a while. Rated 85 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 12
smbauerllc Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 In general, how does it compare to the 50? Haven't bought any 54's yet, and just recently got my first 50's. Will be trying my first one early next month Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I do prefer small ring gauges but the good 54s are better than the 50s for me. Similar flavour profiles, just seems the blend works better in the 54 to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Chibearsv Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Too bad on your cigar. I like the 54 quite a bit and haven’t experienced any bitterness at all. The 50s I’ve tried were a little too flowery for me.

I had 2 normally great Cigars be bitter for some reason lately. Really sucks. Fortunately 1 was just a Bolivar Coronas Junior, so not a big loss money wise, but yesterday was a Punch Super Selection No.2 from 1998 that i was very generously gifted recently. Had a slightly bitter aftertaste, but was excellent otherwise. Fortunately it was quite bad enough to ruin the experience entirely, but still sucked. Since they were discontinued in 2002 its not like I'll be able to get more.Hopefully the second one will be okNot sure of the cause, as my temp and rh are steady at 68deg and 65%rh, so they weren't overhumidified.Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
