Çnote Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Still working thru a full singles tray of NC...I was told this was original production, and it sure tastes like it. Very mellow rum raisin to start, reminiscent of San Cristobal but no Cuban character to speak of. Heavy spices, lead by allspice and black pepper. No transitions, no sweetness leading into 2nd half. Ramps intensity to full++ gobs of flavor, no nuances. Doesn't taste of tobacco; black tea and cake. Pretty good, but no subtle charm. Becomes overpoweringly intense to the level that chocolate and ginger ale as required. Smooths out thankfully at the end of the nub, especially with long rests between puffs. 6/11 good but whatever. I could have smoked something else. It's the rainy May week. It rained all morning and afternoon, to the point of flooding and tornadoes. It was clear when I lit up, but is now overcast again. It's due to rain all week. 4
Cairo Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Good review--these are considered the "mild" LFDs. The ligeros and double ligeros are really: 1 hour ago, Çnote said: overpoweringly intense The chisel vitola steps the intensity up another notch. 🙂
Enduin Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Had the chisel years ago, 2012 I believe, and I remember only two things about it: ammonia and the damn "pepper" burning my throat. Was smoking 95% NCs at the time and was still NOT a fan.
