My question is in regards to cigars in extended transit. Is there any concern that I should freeze them before storing them? FYI I don’t normally freeze them and never had an issue but this is an extended amount of time.

thanks

I would regardless if you have a decent collection of cigars. It only takes one contaminated box to ruin everything. I personally don't think it's a big deal to freeze them as nearly all of them get frozen once in their lives. Main thing is you don't want to freeze to quick and cause the bands to pop, potentially damaging the wrapper.  Usually a day in a ziplock in the fridge prior to tossing in the freezer. Upon removing from the freezer transfer back to the fridge for a day or two before tossing in your humi. Then just let them rest for awhile. ( I try to wait at least 3 months.)  https://forum.cigar.com/discussion/900028/freezing-cigars

I don't think the duration of transit has much bearing on whether you need to freeze them or not. The only factors are: 1) have they been previously frozen (by the manufacturer or the distributor), and if so 2) have they been exposed to unfrozen cigars that might have had beetles or beetle eggs that might have contaminated them again.

Transit time itself isn't the issue. The cigars would have to come into contact with beetles during transit. Could this happen? Pretty unlikely. Impossible if the cigars are vacuum-sealed. But I suppose it's theoretically possible with less than airtight packing, sitting in the corner of a warehouse for 3 months with other tobacco products in transit.

Freezing has no downside apart from a delay in smoking them. If you plan on putting them in with a large or expensive collection you couldn't be faulted for freezing upon receipt.
