Cohiba Medio Siglo 2020 (L&SRW1)

Got this box two months ago from the host. Can't provide the box code 'cause I am too lazy to dig my wine cooler but the year is 2020 and grade is clearance, if my memory serves well. 

 

The overall appearance matches its branding position - high end.

 

Starts off with classic Cohiba flavor, bean, honey and a hint of vanilla. Smoke texture is very smooth, no spice at all. My old man tried out a puff and he agreed. Note that he's only a cigarette smoker. 

 

Getting into the second third, flavor is a bit heavier and black coffee comes in. Red pepper spice showed up occasionally, I'm not liking it though. Ash as shown in the pics is layers over layers, like what an aged Cuban cigar's ash should be - beautiful! Burn is perfect too in the first half and becomes wavy then, but it mostly corrects itself. So far an enjoyable young Cuban. 

 

In the last third, smoke has the tendency to be hot and spiciness bites my tongue more often. I couldn't blame it as it really doesn't age much. 

 

Shockingly, it lasts more than an hour. It's a short smoke but also a long smoke.

 

I'd give it 8.5-9 out of 10. Is 2020 a good year for this little cracker? Based on my experience with this one, YES. Is it the most amazing young Cuban I've smoked lately? No.

Would love to try them, but like almost all Cohibas they are outside of my budget

The ones that especially worth trying are even way more expensive. Considering the Medio Siglo lasts more than an hour, I'd define it as a budget friendly Cohiba LOL.

I'm deep on this cigar. (7 boxes + 4 boxes of tubos) It's one of the friendlier priced Cohibas. The negative is they burn a lil hot at the end, but when they're on... the salty buttery honey goodness is on point. Love these. Glad you enjoyed.

Based on people's opinions about the Medio Siglos i may have to pick up a few if we get another stimulus check and I can afford them
