El Presidente Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Who is using (or has used) a Lujo concept BTX cutter?
Fuzz Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 That is one big ass cutter! I'll stick with my Palio that I can easily carry around. 2
Popular Post Fugu Posted February 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 3, 2021 Nicely executed, but coming with a central, crucial flaw - and that’s the blade. It’s too thick! The resulting steep angle in the chamfer of the blade’s grind makes the blade (in fact the one facing the cigar is the crucial one) transversally slip in the motion of cutting (which one can actually witness in the bloke’s crooked cuts). Faulty design right from the start! An almost typical mistake seen being made in many cutters from the “luxury” (lujo) department. This thingy here has obviously been designed by someone who understands machining and a wee bit of engineering and materials. But who had no understanding of the task this „instrument” has to fulfill (and who’d likely never cut a cigar). As a ‘form-follows-function’ guy these things can really upset me. One of the reasons why even my nice Xikar (gift from my dear wife) keeps resting mostly unused in the drawer, while for everyday use, I am sticking with that simple but effective 10-bucks Chinese plain steel double-blade guillotine gifted to me years back by my son. ? 6
Nino Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Watched the video and the reviewer seems to have an issue with "cheap" cutter/things when he mentions that even the Dupont looks cheap next to that ... monster. But I believe I would rather have a clean cut with the cheap/free store giveaway cutter than a crooked one with that expensive one. I believe @Fugu has nailed the technical side quite expertly as well. 3
Chibearsv Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 I can make a straight cut blindfolded with my perfect cutter. No risk of removing an entire finger either.
MMarbs Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 At 4:55 of the video: "Nothing can go wrong." Except for, you know, a crooked cut.
MooseAMuffin Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Looks like a very expensive paper weight.
