The Zapata Peninsula is one of my favourite places in Cuba.

If you ever get the chance, get out of Havana and spend a few days exploring this beautiful region.

This vid captures it well. :cigar:

Hope to get down and spend time seeing more of the country once everything (pandemic/politics) works their way out of the current situation.

There's much more to the Zapata peninsula, one of America's largest swamp areas, but I am happy the very nice video concentrates on Playa Larga, Caleton and surrounding areas ( the diving is outside El Cenote/Cava de los peces ) - my favourite places outside of Havana where I go to clear my brains and lungs from the Havana hustle.

I found the place 10 years ago driving around Cuba with my S'pore friend Jimmy and Cuban friends, love at first sight !

Lovely quiet area with some of the best seafodd / home food in Cuba, lovely people and interesting things to do, from scuba to diving to crocodile breeding stations, lake Guama and Taino village, flamingos and rock caves where you can swim with the fish, US invasion museum, sugar mills called Australia ...

Love it !

Let me know and I give you some addresses where to go and stay and enjoy great food.

Geezus the crowds ! ?

Yep - the largest "crowds" I've seen there were the migrating red crabs all over the road and streets ... or the beach at Playa Larga on a Sunday when the locals and some Habaneros come out... ?

Here some of my blogposts on Playa Larga and Bay of Pigs :

Here's a nice recent video on the Bay of Pigs/Zapata peninsula - from crocs to Jutias (water rats) to diving to swimming with fishes at Caleta Buena - love that area :
