Popular Post ChangBang
Smoked a Partagas Lusitania during yesterday's Bills Broncos game. Was a single I picked up from the host in late July, so it has been able to rest for more than 4 months. Has a lot of hype with the Michael Jordan connections and whatnot so I was excited to try it! Was doing things before the game and before I knew it, the game was right about to start so I forgot to weight it felt heavy though. Punch cut was tight, so gave it a regular cut which was still tight so I poked it a couple times with my draw tool. Draw did improve as it felt like there was a thick bunch right near the head. Pair with an OJ and ginger beer 1/3 - Starts off with a nutmeg flavor with a smooth silky smoke texture. Getting more into it gives me that spice that I know partagas's for with a baked pastry aspect to it(is this what baking spice is?) Random gasoline flavors emerge for a few draws which was weird, but I was fine with it haha. First 3rd rounds out with a woody flavor and a touch of harshness - the smooth smoke is gone now. Smoke output in general isn't that great, burn so far is fine. 2/3 - Spice and wood domiante the 2nd third without too much change in flavor. Do get a sweetness with the spice that reminds me of a green bellpepper. Burn while fine, smoke output is getting less and I'm relighting it a few more times than I'd prefer. 3/3 - Getting a sweet toasty tobacco note throughout the last third. It's been about 2.5hrs and I'm ready to stop so I put it out at the band. As I kept smoking, the draw got worse as I think the moisture and the heat swelled the tobacco which made it hard to get a good draw and burn. Pretty sure this was overpacked and that itself was the problem vs any sort of plug. Not sure what to do if this is the case? I'd give this a 6/10 - it was better than average and would be a nice change of pace to my usual smokes. Not really going to seek out a cab or anything, but having a 10ct box maybe in my future haha. This'll probably be my last cigar from the Xmas sampler as these to me are more regular production so I don't feel bad about smoking them before they had 90 day rest. Maybe smoke the maduro or 54? If I wanted a good feeling for either, think I should let them rest a bit or they're good to go? Looks like people have been enjoying the maduro even with it's youth CoRo - 7.5/10 Monte 2 - 6/10 Partagas Lusitania - 6/10 BBF - 5.5/10 RyJ Churchill - 4/10
mprach024
Please try again! Bad ones happen like with everything, give them a couple three months down and you are rewarded with rare complexity. Great review/write up, bummed you didn’t have a good experience. I don’t find many plugs of over packs with Lusi’s so chalk this up as a one off. Bad luck...have a great holiday though!

And then for the longer cigars or tight cigars or if it starts to taste tarry or bitter, I just cut it again. I think for this cigar I did punch - straight cut - straight cut- straight cut. Have a cutter that takes off a sliver, so even after 3 straight cuts, still had cap left and the cigar didn't unravel on me. 1 hour ago, mprach024 said: Please try again! Yep I guess I didn't mention but I did get the xmas sampler too, just the single I got from the host had more time resting so I decided to smoke that one! The one I got in the sampler didn't look as fat too, so hopefully that'll have a better draw. Happy Holidays!
