Popular Post MrBirdman
This HQ stick was purchased from our host and has been resting about 45 days. For cigars under 90 days rest or a year old (this is both) I rate simply using zero to three pluses for current smoking, with potential added parenthetically based on how much improvement I can see. First Third: Lovely mild cocoa start, smooth on the retrohale with hints of cream and lots of class. Second Third: Chocolate continues and is joined with milk coffee, and towards the end of this third more coffee grounds Youth begins to show a touch and I have to relight a few times (Any tips for getting focus on your cigar ??) Last Third: Youth really begins to come through, and before long it’s mostly bitter, though every now and then I get some of those earlier notes back. I put this down with about an inch and a half to go Smoking time: 65-70 minutes. Overall for a young, barely rested cigar this showed a lot of potential, and I’m looking forward to trying another from this box in a a month or two Rating from 0 to 3-plus: +(+)
GVan
Interesting rating scale - I like it. I always struggle when trying to put points to a very young cigar - especially in assessing potential. Sometimes I think I'm way too generous in giving points for hints of potential. But, at the same time, if you ignore the "hints" you get from a very young cigar, you'd probably be rating them as 70 to low 80 points. I like your idea of keeping it relatively simple when they're young.
