Montecristo No. 5 ASU JUN 18 (MRW2)

1/2: Starts out cocoa and coffee with some sweet cream. There are some black pepper notes on the back side of the tongue and the retro Hale is a bit spicy. Construction and draw are excellent as smoke production is ample. The spiciness fades to background as baker's chocolate is predominant here. These have been consistent in strength at medium.

2/2: Full flavors all in at the half pole. I continue to appreciate the Perlas format which deliver much of the marcas DNA in 30 minutes. There is a touch of wood on the edges towards the finish and at moments that slight twang of citrus alongside that faded peppery note. This is real nice example. Burn is on auto pilot as smoke production reaches maximum single draw bliss. No heat at the end. A solid 91+
