For those that love to read...submit your all-time favorite articles / stories / posts / books on cigars

Greetings Everyone,

I have an unquenchable thirst for two things in life: reading and cigars.  I would love for everyone to contribute some of their favorite articles, stories, posts, and books that they have read on the subject of cigars over the years.  I was thinking that it would be great for the community to work together to create a mega-post that serves as a collection of the cream of the cigar writing crop.

Try to keep your post limited to the title of the article/story/book and one sentence with your thoughts on it. (Sample format below) Cheers everyone ?

Here is another one:

El Habano: The Global Luxury Smoke by Jean Stubbs (University of London)

Great read in PDF format about the history of cigar smoking, and the cuban cigar as a luxury item.  Academic style writing...but great nonetheless! A fantastic quote in there by Aaron Sigmond really resonated with me:

"Each cigar is a new and sensual experience which instantly distinguishes a smoker from those around him. When two cigar enthusiasts meet, a bond is created that words can do little to convey. Cigars embody a certain sense of fraternity which spans generations, diminishes political differences, and somehow makes all quarrelling suddenly seem petty."

And another great line in there:

"In the more heady years of the late 1960s, however, a young Swiss by the name of Zino Davidoff wrote in a more personal vein: ‘When I was twenty, I fell in love with the great tobacco plantations in Cuba. This passion of my youth has never been spent.’ His father encouraged him to travel to the Americas to learn about the tobacco trade: ‘“I am not able to give you much money,” he said, “only some letters of introduction to tobacco merchants. But if you use them correctly, these letters are worth gold. In our business, friendship is not a vain word.”’

I love this book for so many reasons. The book itself gives a glimpse of smoking from a bygone era, while still being relevant to any aficionado.
