Ken Gargett Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 The Corona Gorda Crush - Punch Punch (REG ENR19) – Seppeltsfield Barossa Shiraz 2020 Gin - Glenfarclas 15-Year-Old Malt Whisky. By Ken Gargett. The Punch Punch will surely be a cigar familiar to most, as we come towards the end of our little journey through the Corona Gorda world, as brief as it has been. And what a joy it turned out to be. They come in good old-fashioned boxes of 25 (none of the ten or eight or whatever malarkey). 143 x 46mm. Opened with a good draw. The construction looked fine, though obvious box press. A fine wrapper with plenty of those attractive russet notes. The opening flavours were dominated by a lovely walnut character. Some earthy tones, woody, spicy and perhaps even a smidge of vanilla. Some leather. Richly flavoured and sitting above medium-bodied. Earthy notes emerged more and more. This is a cigar which... continue to full article. 1
LLC Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Punch Punch is one of my favorites but prefer them from a cabinet. Glad you enjoyed the cigar and drinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the write up Ken! I've experienced this too, its like they put better sticks in them or something. The wooden boxes like the Petit Edmundos come in are good too though. But the glossy, colorful paperboard boxes seem to be lower quality then the SLB's and Wood hinged boxes.

There are fewer and fewer cigars that come in dress boxes and SLBs, so I don't have much experience comparing the two in an apples to apples sort of way. But in general it is the case that the more expensive cigars come in SLBs and boite nature (hinged wooden boxes), and the less expensive ones come in dress boxes. Not a single cohiba (or trinidad) comes in a dress box for example. 2
fokker4me Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Other then the odd count boxes that Trinidad's come in, I'd rather have them in their flip top cabs then dress boxes. To me a dress box is only a positive for retail display. Storage in a humidor is so much better in cabinets. 1
