DeeBeezy Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I wanted a general opinion on the trademark D4 classic flavour described as ‘spiced cream’ by many. If you’ve smoked a lot of D4s you’ll know what I mean. I personally find that this flavour is the dominant flavour in great D4s and I absolutely adore it. I have been working through a box PUR JUN 16 that has been heavy on the spiced cream much to my delight. HOWEVER.... I find that the majority of D4s that I smoke across other years and boxcodes are completely absent as it pertains to that flavour and rarely will I encounter what I consider a good D4 that is rich in this cream flavour. have others found a similar result? do boxes vs tubes make a difference? am I making sense? Let me know if you’ve spotted any similarities 1
TTP21 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 BOP AGO 19. First 5 from the box have had this spiced cream in spades. Spectacular cigar when it's on. Good luck!

What has been your experience across different box codes and years? Also what was the grading on this box if bought from 2424
TTP21 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Clearance box. First box I purchased so unfortunately I can't help with the other question! 1 minute ago, dan benhamou said: What has been your experience across different box codes and years? Also what was the grading on this box if bought from 2424
Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted July 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 23, 2020 Lots of variation in D4 quality. I've never found them particular consistent, especially year to year. There are 20 million of them rolled every year in every factory by every roller. Sometimes you get more sourdough, sometimes the cream, less spice or paprika flavor. The balance can be all over on these. 5

This is very much the impression I’m getting, a lot of them very much pronounced on the paprika spice and floral flavours where I prefer mine with an extra creamy note. Any way to tell how a box will smoke upon first glance? I’ve noticed rosado wrappers can go either way.
NSXCIGAR Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I prefer Colorado wrappers on the D4 and I like more spice and sourdough and less cream. Seems like the darker wrappers have a little more bite with the D4. Then again, I'm not a big D4 smoker. That's just how I prefer them when I have a choice.
