I like the idea of a really big ashtray with rest. Would you ever dispose of the butts? It could get pretty foul smelling.

The "ashtray" would just be the hole (likely a natural cavity from insect damage) in/through the table top. The rest of the table would function as a normal table top. You would place a receptacle (small metal waste paper bin, for example) beneath the table, so any ash/butts discarded through the hole, could be easily disposed of by simply dumping the receptacle. The table itself would never actually contain the ashes/butts. Just a table top (live edge end-grain-topped trunk slice) that happens to have cigar rests and a pass through integrated with the natural features of the piece.

I see this concept in metal. Round table on forged legs with monograms in the form of a glass for a Margarita cocktail. On top of the grill grate-table top. You can put accessories, put glasses and a bottle. Ash and cigar nubs should be thrown through the grate, from the bottom to the container for garbage.

That's the concept! Just made from live edge wood and Minguren-styled wooden base, instead of metal!
