FOHrty9er Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 In the spirit of focusing on cigar discussion ?... I am still fairly new to this but my palette is progressing nicely. I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to try and provide general experiences by marca. Perhaps this would help guide purchases, especially for newbies. For example, I prefer nutty nuances and vanilla undertones. H. Upmann, for myself, provide the nut flavors while Cohiba inevitably leads to a vanilla undertone. Flavors can be more or less intense by rg, but it seems to me marcas have certain characteristics. Can we somehow get a thread or sub topic going that describes the general flavors associate with each marca? I'm too new to organize this, but it seems to make sense in assisting everyone in their journey to finding their sweet spot. Cheers and I hope everyone is living life to it's fullest! 1 1
Popular Post PigFish Posted July 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2020 If you read the many blind tastings that the forum has hosted over many years, you may just determine that there is no such link with Cuban cigars! Let the rain of criticism begin....? -the Pig 10

NSXCIGAR Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 I usually find the notes of a cigar after looking at 10+ people's opinions. Sometimes I can't place certain flavors until I see someone else's description. I think discussion is the best way to figure out what you're smoking and you should be smoking through at least two factory code cycles of a cigar to get a consistent feel. Some marcas' characteristics are all over the map. Upmann, Partagas come to mind there. 3

maverickdrinker Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 The best part of the journey is finding your flavours you identify on your palate. As previously mentioned, everyone’s view has slight nuances on what flavours they get when reviewing cigars. In terms of resources, this forum has a lot of good reviewers and tons of info on in the cigar review forums. Rob and Ken, John S, Frank, (Bundwallah) and a number of others have great views/palates imho. I like half wheel as they have overall industry cigar news and cigar reviews. There are a number of bloggers as well. I am particular to one specific site. Lol. Overall, it’s a function of time. Take notes on each cigar and describe the flavours you are getting. Over time, you’ll key in on certain flavours and you’ll get to compare your current experiences to previous ones if you take notes. Try as many different marcas to get a sense of flavour profile. Hope this helps. Have fun on your journey Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4
