JohnS Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Alonso Menendez and Jose Manuel Pepe Garcia bought out H.Upmann in 1937. They continued to make H.Upmann Cuban cigars until the tobacco industry was nationalised in September, 1960. The bottom of the jar is a reference to Menendez and Garcia moving their business to the Canary Islands. They left in the mid-1970s due to a trademark disputes with Cubatabaco. In summary, in my opinion, the jar is dated between circa 1961 and 1975. My best guess would be closer to the early 1960s. 1
