Popular Post Wailbait Posted April 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 12, 2020 This is a big one for me. First of all. THANK YOU so much to the FOH community. I have loved reading up on the posts these past few weeks. I haven’t been able to smoke a cigar in almost two months because this crazy world-sitch has left me at work and taking on some nutball shifts. So I promised that the first non-rainy weekend in Los Angeles I would try something great. I knew I would bust out something special for my first cigar in 60 days! Bushido? Eslavo? Both interesting but I have tried them in the past. Here is my opportunity to have something truly special - something I have never had. Allones 898. Its a lovely day today and this is my chance to try a cigar I have always wanted to have. The dalia is among my favorite sizes so I am thrilled. First half: initial thoughts are that this is a great weight and a beautiful wrapper. Not much nose at cold. First light and it’s GLORIOUS. Very subtle and perfumey. Not what I usually expect from the Allones profile. It’s soft and lovely. Ramps up quickly from light to medium body. (Not full). My wife keeps commenting on how the cigar smells like her grandfathers cigars. (He was some sort of made man who was a member of the Dunhill Society - no idea what that means but we have a BONKERS humidor attesting as such). It’s truly a refined smoke. I will pause to thank my bride for my lovely glass. In it is a somewhat drained bottle of Knob from when there was an age statement. But it’s a really beautiful Japanese hand cut crystal glass. Second Half. Tea. its just a beautiful glass of tea. Subtle. Refined. A perfect example of many of the flavors I associate with Allones, perfectly settled and in a format I enjoy. I cannot recommend this cigar more highly. This is a 97 for me. I’m floored. Everything just came together in a lovely way. Hopefully I have another cigar soon! 20
StogieSteve23 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Interesting about the tea flavors you received throughout. Thanks for the review and love the box code! July 15th is my birthday! 1
RDB Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Great review on a cigar we don’t see here at all often. Yes it is a beautiful glass. Show us the humidor! 2

As I reflected on the cigar afterwards, what impressed me most was that it had some of the Allones DNA that one comes to expect (plum, prune and baking spice) but when those elements are lightened they have a tea-like quality. I suppose I don’t use the term “elegant” to describe many of the RASS I have had, but this cigar was REALLY elegant. Highly recommended! 1
