Popular Post PigFish Posted April 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2020 Well folks, last cab of what was once my favorite cigar. Big Gunz, big-uns... no, not either. A wonderful rewarding cigar, a poem, yes... really. Pictures say most of it. I enjoyed the cigar while on a Zoom chat with mates from around the Isla Pigfish. Off the board, we enjoyed all forms of topics, and without adult leadership and consent, even firearms...! On to the cigar. As you can see from photos these are rather dull looking rough cigars. That matters little to me really. Back then I also used to enjoy the unvarneshed Party 898, which I often found at the same H&F supplier with these rather dull, dark colorado wrappers. This cigar seemed a bit underfilled, not typical for the era. The ash dark, almost black as it took to flame. Nor did I get my typical crackle when 'hearing' the cigar. I attribute this to coming from the bottom shelf of my Aristo (with no offense) not the very best place that I have to store cigars. There was no 'over the top' nose to the cigar. That allowed me to go ahead and smoke it. Otherwise I might have judged it a bit too damp. I data log my Aristo as well much of the time so I know that even that humidor is not really too wet to smoke from. This particular cigar just did not want to talk to me. These cigars are responsible for breathing life into my early days of Cuban cigars. They really were a staple for me. Back then I never really thought of 'discontinuations.' I bought cigars like these that were plentiful, and ubiquitous. There was never a rush to buy anther box. I would smoke what I have; the thought of not finding them, aging them, running out of them never really crossed my mind. A different era indeed! I have had better samples, but that did not make the cigar less than excellent. Abundant smoke, not really the best characteristic of these from the day, a light draw but plenty of flavor. I would have to say that stone fruit dominated this cigar. Not incredibly complex, nice constitution, but with minimum personality. Not mundane, don't misread the monotonic descriptors and conclude a less than a delightful smoke. I might have retract the 'poem' comment. A poem does not really describe the cigar... Well, I will keep it and maybe say 'the Raven.' We had a nice conversation from across my Nation and at home I enjoyed the cigar with the gentlemen that I smoked with. While I would love to have spun a yarn of marjoram and frankincense, this cigar was not that. It was a typical cigar of that era, largely making it an excellent cigar for "today." Thanks for reading! Cheers! -the Pig 12 2
PigFish Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 ... what is life like in an Aristo? Thought you might ask. Not one of my humidors mind you... but the residents are not really complaining. Cheers!
dominattorney Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Nice review. I have had trouble picking individual flavors put of older cigars as well. I've had two of these in my career and have enjoyed them very well. Also noted the stone fruit. Hope you're well

Rather wanting to smoke another of these today. Back in the day when the Boli PC really was the most talked about PC, I always went for these instead. Never thought the BPC held a candle to these. Cheers! -R
