Popular Post joeypots Posted April 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 6, 2020 And yet again, Sunday afternoon, cigar, my bride is making dinner, and Covid 19 almost feels like it's a dream instead of a terrible reality. That's a Monte #1 Lonsdale. I love these cigars. This is a good box and I don't think it's long for this world during the mandated slowdown. Nicely constructed with a near perfect draw the cigar burned straight, didn't need a touch up, and never got spongy. It was solid Monte Cristo with tobacco, some bean flavors, a bit of tanginess, and was old enough so the harsh edges were smoothed and it could be enjoyed through the nose right to the very end. It's had a good nicotine kick and made loads of smoke. So if anyone thinks that 42 RG cigars can't match up to the new big fat monstrosities, think again. There's a reason Cuba made so many lengths of the 42RG, I once read that it was thought to be the perfect size for blending. I think the trick to smoking thiner cigars is to slow down a bit. Smoking time was an hour and fifteen minutes and I needed to take a break before I even considered smoking a smaller cigar to end the afternoon. Highly recomended. 6
JoeyBones777 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Love Monte 1's! These are now a mainstay in my humidor along with Monte 2's(for nostalgia reasons, a 5 year old #2 was my 5th year anniversary smoke and best cigar I've smoked to date). Good review.
