Popular Post Akela3rd Posted March 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2020 Jobs jobbed and time for a Sunday afternoon cigar and review. Went for the QD'O Corona as I haven't had one in quite a while and haven't even had any of the newer production models. Dull wrapper, light Colorado, feels good in the hand, giving almost nothing on the cold draw. On lighting the first taste is clearly, almost solely, marzipan (my spell check keeps trying to change that to Marxism for some reason). Perfect draw, clouds of thick viscous smoke and the very slightest hint of spice or lemongrass. Solid medium body. It's a good looking cigar and I'm enjoying the simplicity of the old style band, seems to suit the calm of the day. Flavours are well defined - touch of biscuit, touch of citrus, touch of black pepper - and well balanced. Marzipan returns having faded from view for a while. It's all very kitcheny...I've baked bread this afternoon so that's quite appropriate. Flavours a tad muted into the final third, could these really need more time? I read once that 5 years is a sweet spot, but as ever others liked them earlier. Getting more peppery towards the end but still with that citrus and baking thing going on. It's been a beautiful cigar, relaxing and gentle and perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Score? Dunno, just very very good. Sent from GJ 1151 12
RDB Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Very nice read, thanks. I only had a few of the old version, and tbh I’ve preferred the new ones I’ve had. Nice change to the usual pattern!
