Are Cigar Oasis 3.0 Users Still Modifying Reservoir With Super Absorbent Beads

Since Cigar Oasis 3.0 has been on the market for quite long time, I'm planning to update info of Cigar Oasis on my Cigar Wiki. Are 3.0 users still modifying 3.0's reservoir with super absorbent beads like its predecessor, 2.0's? There aren't many user reports about 3.0 reservoir modification unlike 2.0.

Forgive me if I am missing something, but when I bought my 3.0 in October, it came with water beads. I believe that they changed out the sponges a year or so ago...

Thanks mate! But, I think you bought 3.0 Magna which uses watet beads. I'd be appreciated if you post the pic of your 3.0.

• Cigar Oasis Ultra, Excel, Plus 3.0: Uses Pre-Treated White Melamine Foam
• Cigar Oasis Magna 3.0: Uses Humidification Beads (A.K.A. Water Beads)

I have the Plus 3.0 in my antique icebox Convert. It has the green foam, which is unsettling to me. Can I swap it out for heartfelt beads?

Surprised to hear that (I saw Cigar Oasis accidentally sent early 3.0 models with green foam to the retailers on other website)! Based on Cigar Oasis users' experiences, you can modify Cigar Oasis with beads, but not with Heartfelt beads. It's because Heartfelt beads is 2-way humidification while electronic humidifiers like Cigar Oasis are 1-way humidification. So, super-absorbent beads is used for modifying Cigar Oasis (you have to manually remove top cover of reservoir for removing green/white foam).

Gotcha, that makes sense. Care to share some brands of 1 way humidification beads?

For super-absorbent beads (also known as water beads), you just have to find them on Ebay and Amazon as they can be found everywhere (brand doesn't matter for super-absorbent beads).

No problem buddy! I also read the reviews of Cigar Oasis 3.0 on Amazon and noticed some of them received 3.0 with green foam like you (I believe it's most likely vendor issue).
