Popular Post Akela3rd Posted February 29, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 29, 2020 Sunshine and showers is the order of the day as another storm with a name (Jorge? Really?) dumps rain on this small ex-European island. I'm in a sunshine window... We've had more rain since we left the EU, which appears to be what it was all about as nothing else has changed. Light Colorado wrapper, beautiful construction, excellent cold draw giving hints of that familiar milk chocolate. Biscuity and darker chocolate on lighting, very nice. Slight fresh woodiness in the retrohale. Quite light in strength, noticeably lighter than the others I've had from this box it seems. Very reminiscent of a HdM Epicure Especial actually. Remains light and mild through the first third - it's very good but not at all what I was expecting. Into the second section and things start getting more familiar - heavier cocoa flavours and a definite up in the strength and intensity. It's clouded over and the patio umbrella goes up... Settles nicely into a familiar Edmundo groove, all Bourbon chocolate biscuits, just a touch of cinnamon and vanilla. Bit of a wonky burn here and there but nothing major. Sweet cedar and a deepening of the cocoa making it more coffee-like as the threatened rain finally starts to blow through. Timing is everything so I cut it short with a potential ten minutes left on the stick as the rain and hail is horizontal making the umbrella useless. An excellent cigar though, full of character and very satisfying. Camping next week and this will be first choice by the fire. A solid 92 despite the bloody weather.
