Popular Post rcarlson Posted February 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 22, 2020 Last one in the humi. Farewell my beloved JLS 1. We barely knew ye. For the hundredth time, I loves me some JLS 1. Discovered them on a whim not long ago, and have looked forward to every one since. I'm hooked. Before sending this one to Valhalla, I messed the head and pulled the wrapper with a clumsy cut. Fortunately, with some precision glue application, the day was saved. Once repaired, she treated me like all of her predecessors: an obedient mistress. The wrapper and construction were good, notwithstanding my ham-handed cut. No touch ups required, but the ash was a bit flakier and looser than usual. Still, density and resistance were in the zone. Initial draws were sweet grass with a doughy, creamy, buttery thing goin' on. I didn't get the light floral blast others have shown in the past, but hardly a big disappointment. Still "all there" otherwise. As the smoke warmed, I got the familiar buttered warm bread and light honey that takes me to the bakery counter. Sweet, rich. Toasted nuts made the way in, but only faintly. This stick was consistent; no real evolution. But when you're parked in a good location, staying put is just fine. I find no reason to age these. Frankly, I think they'd probably go flat like Tom Brady's game ball if left unattended too long. They just don't have the complexity that becomes deeper and more refined with age IMO. And for the price? Fuggedaboutit. I'm gettin' while the gettin's good. I do grade on a curve, but she gets a respectable "A" nonetheless. 5
