Popular Post JoeyBones777 Posted December 28, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2019 I know this is the second NC I've reviewed during this comp but I promised I would review this particular cigar in a post awhile back so here we go. The wrapper has a bit of a rustic appearance but is quite oily. The first third starts with pepper, earth and oak wood. The pepper is strong on the palette but the retro is fairly smooth and pleasant. The finish has a distinct leather quality. Second 3rd and the leather finish has died down a bit as well as the pepper. Oak and earth dominate but a very nice vanilla sweetness is present which mixes really nicely with the oak. The burn has needed a couple touch ups and the draw is a bit airy. Final third and the draw has corrected itself but the combustion and burn still need some help. Some white pepper enters the oak and earth while the vanilla has disappeared. All in all it is a pretty good smoke. From a patriotic point of view, a cigar with all American tobacco produced entirely in the USA is an interesting concept that has some good results here. The flavors were surprisingly good with some decent complexity and transitions. The down side is the draw and burn issues given it's $19 price point. Still I give it a 90. I wish they had 10 count boxes. I wouldn't mind putting one in the humidor to smoke every 4th of July. A change of pace from CC's and certainly worth a try. Did I mention the band is quite handsome?...'cuz it is. 5
