Popular Post mwaller Posted November 16, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2019 Bolivar is my favorite marca, so it was fitting that my first box purchase was the Bolivar Super Coronas. I've sampled a few sticks over the last two years, and they have been hit and miss. Tonight, I hit the jackpot! From the moment I smelled the aroma while toasting the foot, I knew this was going to be good. The cigar hit the ground running, with huge flavors of coffee, chocolate, earth and spice. After the first 1/4", the spice yielded to rich chocolate and cream. This continued to the start of the 2nd third. That's when a round nutty character emerged. Towards the end of the 2nd third, the nuttiness gave way to to tropical fruit and coconut. Yum! As the cigar entered the final third, a bit of bitterness crept in, and the flavors started to lose their focus. Coincidentally, my 6-year old daughter chose this moment to tell me I should stop smoking so she could snuggle with me on the back deck. No objections there! So, I ditched the final third in exchange for some quality time with the family. I wouldn't change a thing. 96/100 9
Wailbait Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Love this review. Pretty much sums it all up. A little bit of dad time, a little bit of family time.
NSXCIGAR Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Love the vitola but I didn't hit it off with this cigar. Haven't had one since 17 so maybe they've improved. The Soberanos on the other hand...

To be fair, these Super Coronas have been hit and miss. I've smoked about 6. The first, back in 2016 was superb. 4 of them were ok, but not great. Last night was amazing ?

Yes, the Soberanos are terrific. Best way I can describe it is a BRC on steroids. Smooth but full and rich. Not super strong. Didn't get any forest floor/mushroom flavor that I got from the Super Coronas which tasted like just another EL to me. Unfortunately, the price is quite high.
