gkallos Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Hey guys, What's the best way to store a full cigar jar? Is the small humidifier under the lid enough? I don't think this would be optimal since, without a hygrometer, you don't know if your sticks are over/under humidified. On the flip side, storing the jar in my cabinet won't let me display them either...What do you guys do?
Fugu Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Never ever use the internal "toy humidifier"! If you care about the cigars put the jar in the humi.
gkallos Posted October 26, 2019 Author Posted October 26, 2019 My idea is to keep the cigars in the cabinet humidor and display the jar...I agree with you about the "toy humidifier"
Akela3rd Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I've got an old Upmann HUPC jar that I replaced the seal on and keep my remaining HUPCs and newer Regalias in there with a 62 Boveda pack sat on top under the lid. Has worked a treat for the last couple of years.Sent from 47171 Lempo
Lotusguy Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I have a ton of jars... the ones that have a real seal like Torreon or Partagas P1 or Noellas, for example are fine to keep outside the humidor with a small Boveda but all the jars from Spain and the new German BBF jar don't have a seal at all and need to be kept inside a humidor or you need to take the cigars out. 1
gkallos Posted October 26, 2019 Author Posted October 26, 2019 do you do anything to monitor the RH in the jars? in other words, do you have a hygrometer in them?
Puros Y Vino Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 As per what @Lotusguy said. Some jars just don't have a proper seal so you need to tuck them into a humidor. Those that do, a Boveda pack between 62-65RH is more than enough. I use 62's as the seal on the jars are excellent and there's no place for that humidity to go. Inspect them once in a while though, just to be safe.
