Meklown Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Beautiful brown wrapper with lots of tiny veins running around. Not very oily looking. Cold draw is not very flavorful, a little buttery. Starts off on burnt cookies, chocolate chips. There already is a nice smoothness to it. The draw is perfect at the moment, and the strength light-medium; perfect for an afternoon smoke. A savoury hit of light soy sauce, which goes away as quickly as it came. Into the second 1/3 and there's a distinct vanilla essence flavour. Not a lot of difference from the first third in terms of general profile. Gradually there's a bit of roast pork marinated with only salt. There is some umami. Towards the third 1/3 the umami and savoury flavours go away and it's mainly back to burnt cookies, this time skimming the edge of acceptable bitterness. Overall a good afternoon smoke, plenty of smoothness for a young one, with good hints of complexity even within a short smoke. 86/100 4

Burningman Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Good review. I'l can't recall getting semi sweet chocolate from these. The one I reviewed was from 2011. I might just break my routine and dip into a younger box to see if i can pick up on similar flavors. Thanks for posting!

I got more of "baking chocolate chips" notes rather than "artisan chocolate" if that makes any sense
