Popular Post Meklown
Funny story behind this habit. I was once on a road trip around the South island of New Zealand. I brought my cigars, while my uncle who is a pipe tobacco smoker brought his tobacco. We were enjoying thoroughly and NZ being such a picturesque place, every time we stopped the car to take in the views, we'd inhale some tobacco. Some time towards the end of the two week trip (day 10/14), Uncle ran out of tobacco. As we stayed in Airbnb farmhouses, there was a lack of tobacco shops for him to top up. He then looked around and it suddenly dawned on him that I was tossing out my nubs. He took them and sliced them into strips, and laid them out to dry. These were now perfectly functional pipe tobacco! A couple of days later, I took out a HdM Grand epicure EL13. He came to me and took a few puffs, and said "Wow this is good! Remember - leave me your nub!". When I was done, instead of slicing the nub into pieces, he stuffed the entire nub into his pipe and started enjoying. Now this gave me a brilliant idea. Why waste all the nubs from all the cigars I smoke? Being the cheap ass that I am, I realised that I could smoke them too. Since then, I got myself a pipe, and this became the de facto way for me to finish my cigars. It doesn't taste as good as the actual cigar but hey I'm a cheap ass! Now I've done this everywhere I go and several times, people have came up to me to say that that was an interesting way to finish the cigar. Does anyone else do this? 3

nKostyan
Winston Churchill's gardener collected his nubs, cut and smoked in a pipe.
BrightonCorgi
There are actual pipes used for cigars that were popular in the 1920-30's. You can see them being used in movies from that era.
MrGlass
I have seen people do it, but it isn't for me. There is a place that sells pipes specifically for this purpose too:
