During my August trip I noticed something new throughout the streets of Havana. Electric scooters and Electric motorcycles are growing at a rapid rate..... these things are swift, silent, and deadly!!!! I can see the death toll rising  because you can't hear these things!!! You rely on the loud rattle of the diesel motor to gauge when you can cross the street, UNTIL NOW...... so be careful when your out there  and triple-check when crossing roads.   ??

1) All electric motorcycle..... the owner said he tried to keep as original as possible after removing the engine.

2a) Electric scooter that some cubans and pizza delivery restaurants are starting to use.

2b) Just a closeup of the scooter dash....

3) Short clip on how silent they are.

If the government is allowing electric components in no doubt it will be cheaper to convert all combustion to electric than to keep the combustion going...at least until the grid crashes.

Isn't the power grid circa 1950's? I hear it already does.

Yeah, I mean totally crashes.

If they were smart Cuba would be the leading force in Gen IV nuclear right now. If they were smart...

With all their issues getting oil/gas for cheap enough now, maybe this is a band-aid solution for them ?
They barely have enough electrical power for the infrastructure now, let alone 10 electric scooters charging at the same time just in Havana alone, heh.

As I alluded to, I don't think this can even be a band-aid. The only advantage is that electricity is much cheaper than gas. Like literally 1,000 times cheaper. The problem is why. Gas has no real price controls. Electricity has severe price controls. Which will result in shortages and grid crashes. Which will result in electric never being embraced there.

There's no free lunch when it comes to energy.

Could be a little bit of a stretch to think Cuba is going green considering the power plants run on diesel. ?

Super cool bike!
