Popular Post Wailbait Posted June 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2019 This is the craziest review weekend for me because I really had to take a long look at all of the cigars I own. Short moral is I guess I own a lot of lonsdales and coronas and quite a few robustos. I had thought my Upmann Connie 1 were similar to a JL1 and Epi 1 but they are not. Lots of dalias (42-43) and lots of robustos (50) but not a ton of 44-46 ring gauge Perhaps a Siglo 4 but I wasn’t in the mood for that Evening smoke and quite lovely. These Series A are among my favorite. I believe they are discontinued but boy do I wish they returned. Cold draw, aroma and pack are spot on. First third was easy. Lovely aroma and room tone. Super mellow. But it did get stronger. Much much stronger.. Second third was the best one. Ligero shone through and the strength ramped up. Great construction. Some of the softness of the first third have way to a powerful and structured smoke. Last third was strong as all get out. Not unpleasant as it was never ashy tasting but rather deep woods and leather. Surprising given that the first third was floral and almondy. I love these cigars and I wish they weren’t discontinued. I’ve had the Regios before and while those are great too, I don’t see a ton of similarities between the Regio and the Series A. I guess this is what FOH auctions are for. 92-93 rating. Really superb. 6

FatPete Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Great review- now I'm definitely going to try and pick a box of these up when I'm in Switzerland next month.
Wailbait Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 If you have the chance to get a box, I really think it’s worth it. I don’t believe these to be a case of ex post facto sadness - that is - sad they are discontinued only because they are discontinued. They really are great. Worth chasing if you see them. 1
