Montecristo Media Corona 2018 (MRW)

This is a Media Corona from a ¼ box purchase off 24:24. Didn’t note the box code, but it was fairly recent so I’m certain it’s from 2018. This is number 4 of 6, and I found the previous 3 to be absolute little gems of chocolate and spice. I paired this one with a cup of Maui Coffee Roasters chocolate mac nut blend on a gorgeous Sunday morning here.

This one starts off as usual with some nice Cuban spices and of course...cocoa. To me, typical Cuban spice in a cigar is a combination of Sandalwood scent, and the alluring and exotic aroma of an old school head shop of the 70’s.

As I progress, the spice fades a bit, and the cocoa builds, with some honey entering the picture, and dark chocolate richness wafting in and out. I must say, however, compared to the previous 3, this one isn’t displaying the all-out richness of flavors I’ve come to expect. 

Burn isn’t perfect, but nothing goes seriously awry. 

35 minutes and we’re done. Flavors were pleasant but disappointingly a bit muted. The strength really surprised me, starting out medium, but ending quite strong. Between the coffee and this stick, I’m buzzed.

I give it an 89, the lowest score of the 4 I’ve had. Still, I see box of these in my future.

I have two boxes both from 2015. I've had great experience overall with these. Very nice short smoke.

the 2015 box I'm smoking through has been the best box (for consistency) I've ever had from Cuba.

would love to see Prez unearth another aged case like he did last fall (2018).

+1 on this. I also picked up a 2015 box here from that batch last fall and it has been absolutely spectacular. And I'm generally not a huge Monte fan overall.
