HDGSN
Siglo IV review - LGR JUL 18 recent 24:24 clearance. Appearance - I picked from the third best of the 5 packs in terms of quality. Velvety but dry, some veins and stretching - Cuban and fantastic triple cap Cold aroma - not much from the wrapper - strong hay and barn floor from the foot Cold draw - slightly tight draw, citrus orange and lime rind with milk coffee - encouraging, but expecting burn issues as its only been acclimating 3 weeks. Light with matches at 1:40PM expecting to use the torch for touch up. 1st Third - draw is perfect, a rebounding resistance, smoke volume is medium at start and picks up toward end, strength is touch under medium then rounds into medium, flavor is loads of woody tobacco and grass with peppery milk coffee retrohale at start with a Very dry, tannic finish. Retrohale keeps improving - Guinness flavors enough so I put away the water and go pour a Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout. Towards the end of the third there is some transition to lemongrass and Biscoff cookie 2nd Third - big transition in flavors here - sweetness is gone. Yeast rolls, pistachio and a little sour like green wood. Youth is showing. Strength is medium full - I think I hit a patch of extra ligero there because the end of the 2nd third transitions back medium and to lemongrass and peanut butte cookies which makes for a nice flavor zing - had to do a few touch ups and the ash is wonky but standing firm Last Third - Full bodied nicotine but smoke is heavy but below medium mouthfeel, loads of cedar and toasted tobacco with herbal finish but then dark roast bitter coffee retrohale. Fell flat at the end just toasted tobacco and strength - quite stronger than expected Overall - Pleased at the flavor transitions being hard to miss and this was loaded with twang and shows good promise for being 6 months old and not truly acclimated. This was a 91 cigar until the final third and the blandness of flavor and strength drops it to a 88. Smoke time: 1hr 15min
