I'm due for a vacation in 2019 have not ever been to Cuba although I only live 3 hours by a 737, New York area.

My primary goal for Cuba would be to by cigars, swim, eat.....you know all the dumb shit a first time visitor would do.

I'm sure prices are cheaper than in Spain but not by much.  Other than custom cigars I'd be hunting aged smokes and

after reading some of the threads looks like there are not much to be had in Cuba.

Spain been there three times so the area of Barcelona I well versed in the places to by smokes.  Have not been to Spain

since 2015 so a little out of the loop.  Also I would drive to Andorra and check out the two main cigar shops.

If anyone has been to Spain / Barcelona lately please inpart with some info about the cigar culture.  I miss Spain alot,

wifey loves France, Provence, Menton, Nice wonderful places.  When in Spain we would stay at the Hotel Camper

just off the Rambla.  Ok again any members be to Spain lately and if so any aged smokes to be had.

I think that it is 5 years too late to expect to find aged smokes in either Spain or Cuba. There are days however where something may turn up.

Customs = Cuba

Things for wives to do = Spain.

You best to go to Cuba with mates for 4 days and to Spain with your wife :D

I'll go with the Prez on this one.

Both places are great but island living being what it is, it tends to exacerbate indulgent impulses...

Spain is plenty debauched, but unless you're young and have other young people there you know, it won't lead you to the shoals in the same way.

But Spain is a wonderful, beautiful interesting country, with world class museums, history and culture. Shopping also..

As for Cuba, I've yet to see Havana, and it's on my bucket list, but apart from that....

I could very well be wrong though....

Well it really depends.  My girlfriend is about 10 years younger than I am, speaks Spanish and loves cigars.  She's been to Cuba with me 4 times and each time I ask her if she wants to go to Cuba, she's never said no.  I mention her age because much of Cuba happens after midnight and she still has energy to drag me out dancing and partying into the wee hours, and head home as the sun is coming up.  This works well in Havana.  It would also work well in Barcelona too, but being on the west coast of the US, Cuba is now much easier to get to.  A redeye to the East Coast and we're in downtown Havana before noon.

I'd be remiss if I didn't point out my girlfriend's other passion is clothes and shoes, so Spain takes that one hands down.

If you go for cigars-both countries are interesting, but in different areas: Cuba - see how to make Cigars and try custom, Spain - has a lot of shops for single purchases. In LCDH is now very difficult to catch a good box of cigars, because our Chinese friends get rich bribes LCDH-managers  to Cigars bypassing the counter fell directly to China. Spain is also better with a variety of cuisine and service if you like to eat delicious and delicious coffee.

 and delicious coffee.

All the European romance countries claim to be the real coffee country.

Being francophone, I had always heard about how the french are king at coffees. The Italians invented the espresso machine, and they will readily tell your that are too notch at cofffe. I never heard a Spaniard boast about spanish coffee.

Well believe me or not, I once took a trip that started in Venice, then Marseille, then Madrid.

I got to taste the common basic everyday coffee of the three countries in succession.

Spanish coffee is by FAR the superior one. Smooth, deep and rich. Straight shot, cafe con lech' or crajillo.

Best coffee hands down. Believe me.

I've been in different parts of Spain. My last trip was by Andalusia. Coffee isn't good for me there. much better in Italy and France. as for aged cigars it's obviously much better to pay attention at the stores a bit far from touristic places. I found some really interesting cigars. I visited 10 + cities in Andalusia for that.
