Guest Nekhyludov Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 DAMMIT! Someday, someday ... I'm gonna get the band off of a Hoyo without having to rip it to shreds. Does Tabacuba stock two different kinds of glue - one normal, and one nuclear-rated industrial grade?
kalibratecuba Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Yeah, whenever I easily remove a band off an NC, I feel like a superhero.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

rcarlson Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Lol. Some time back, I asked the fellas what tricks they use for stubborn bands. One response was that if you gently warm the band by the seam to loosen the glue, most times it'll make peeling back the band easier. I've done it -- lots. You've got to be surgical with your lighter, but about half the time it works for me. No surprise the older the cigar, the more the deterioration of the glue, and the easier it comes off. This is at the top of my list of pet-peeves, right behind the asshole that ashes on the cigar rest at the edge of the ashtray. I always wanted to ask one of the Castro brothers if this was something they only did to the cigars going to Americans. If so, we've lost a war of attrition and should just surrender.
OldEasy Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Often I have also found that if I just let the band peel into two half layers (the lower layer remaining stuck around the full circumference of the cigar) and then pull it around twice it will come off. Doesn't allow for a pretty byproduct if you collect bands, but I've found it to work most of the time and doesn't risk damaging the cigar like picking and pulling at it might. If you collect bands, then yes, I'm just as clueless as everyone else, though I've heard leaving it on until the ember is quite close can loosen it via heat as rcarlson suggested.
Jimmy_jack Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Personally I wish they were all unbanded.
