99call Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 So a few years ago, I was walking around the garden centre with my missus. This is often a love/hate visit. as on the down side, we are there for hours!! but on the other hand, when I like something.........I really like it, and get quite inspired. lets call is a 90/10 split! Personally I love being flanked by aromatic planting when smoking. Far from being distracting, it can actually zone you in to what your getting and what your not getting from the cigars. For instance it's still very pleasant when smoking and 898. The focus of this thread is "aloha 'Wisley Vanilla'" picture attached. This stuff is beautiful. It subtly washes the air with a distinct Des Dieux floral vanilla. It's not overly saccharine or tacky and it just a wonderful addition to the smoking experience. Also love sweet roses, and honeysuckle. Any other aromatic gardening tips out there? Before anyone mentions it, I wont be tricked into those big amazonian stick plants, that aparrently smell like a mass grave!
MountainMilG Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 So oddly, flowering nicotiana is frequently recommended for aromatic plantings. We're working on building the outdoor area after renovating the inside. She insists on calling it a "patio", while I correct her that it's the smoking lounge. I want to have some of that there. I also have some Gardenia (I don't like it as much, but certainly a fragrance) and many roses. She loves peony's, and we'll be putting some of that in a bed that's currently hosting tomatoes. 1

I like the idea of Nicotiana sylvestris, aroma wise, but a bit put off, as it's not the easiest on the eye. cheers for the tip though, will look into it 1
thedame007 Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 I also love honey suckle, but I am also partial to lillies. However, my top aromatic are lavender plants, I have quite a few, and their sweet fragrance is always a joy whilst smoking. 1

I would love a little sun lit court away from the hustle and bustle of homelife. A little sun trap just for me. 2
