El Presidente Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 ......all i am saying is that Smithy and I were tanked when we came up for the concept of ShooAway. Struggling for inspiration? A pint of beer could release creative block, say scientists In word association tests, alcohol increased creativity by around 40 per cent CREDIT: CHRISTOPHER COX Artists throughout history have claimed that alcohol can boost creativity and trigger flights of productivity. Now a new study has proved that their assertions are not just wishful drinking. Downing a pint of beer for men, or around 350ml for women, boosted test scores in 132 men and women who were given a range of creative tasks. In one word association test, alcohol increased test scores by around 40 per cent. In the test participants were given three words and asked them to think of a word that can be connected to each - for example, the word “pit” can be attached to “peach”, “arm” and “tar”. Researchers from the University of Graz, in Austria, believe that alcohol helps remove the parameters which surround a problem, allowing more creative thought, and helping drinkers to think outside of the box. The study suggests enjoying a glass of wine, or beer, could be the key to unlocking the mental alacrity need to complete a cryptic crossword or write a witty best-man’s speech. However, while alcohol boosted creativity it decreased ‘executive function’ and so is likely to impede artistic endeavors which require motor skills, such as painting or dancing. Lead author Mathias Benedek, of the Department of Psychology at the University of Gras, said: “Anecdotal reports link alcohol intoxication to creativity. Creative problem solving tasks are often solved by spontaneous insight and accompanied by “Aha”-experiences “Alcohol impaired executive control, but improved performance in the Remote Associates Test. “Beneficial effects are likely restricted to very modest amounts of alcohol, whereas excessive alcohol consumption typically impairs creative productivity.” In 2015, a Danish brewer released The Problem Solver beer which aimed to increase creativity by providing the exact amount of alcohol needed to trigger expansive thinking. It followed a study from the University of Illinois, which found the ideal blood alcohol level for creative problem solving is just below the legal limit for driving. The new research was published in the journal Consciousness & Cognition. 1

Popular Post Fuzz AI Posted July 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2018 "A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers." 7 1 3

I believed it too for a long time, but apparently it was never ever said by Cliff Clavin on air on Cheers. No-one has ever found a clip of that, or can name the episode. Now reason we drink cold beer on a cold day, that has been explained by Cliffy. 3 hours ago, ayepatz said: This explains why the Scots invented pretty much everything. ???????
