Ken Gargett Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 it is a little long but if this doesn't give you chills, you are dead. only ever caught one GT on fly, and it was a baby, but been smashed by a few. even that is a monumental thrill. 2
SloppyJ Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Wow, what a terrific video. I'm not even a fly guy but that looks amazing. Going fishing on the Gunnison River in CO this weekend. If only trout put up that much of a fight.

If only trout put up that much of a fight. first trout i ever caught on fly was not long after i'd been bonefishing in cuba. only a little one, about two pounds, and it was probably struggling in fast water but i looked at my guide and said, without thinking, 'is that all they do?'. never seen anyone look more devastated. thankfully i've found plenty of trout that did way more than that, and the extra dimension of fishing in rivers with all the obstacles and difficulties that poses, makes them worthwhile. but the brute force and speed of salt water fly is special. 1
El Hoze Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 incredible video, thanks for sharing. I grew up fishing in salt water and remember the first time I hooked a big salmon and realized within a few seconds it wasn’t much different than hooking a big chunk of seaweed.
