Bagman Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Montecristo #2 April, 2013. 5 years of age. Dark oily wrapper, very silky touch. Cigar has been stored in 62% humidity. Very full pack. I clip the cigar and it is the most plugged cigar I have ever had. You can’t even get a draw. When oh when is Cuba going to get their act together, seriously. Not slightly packed, packed solid. Out comes the Perfectdraw to the rescue, though I had little hope given how packed it was. It took 5 full holes all the way down. A lot of tobacco to be removed, but the cigar now has a perfect draw. Plus 1 for this device. It is 65 degrees outside (18C), the warmest day in almost 6 months here in the pacific northwest. As normal, I’m drinking coffee with my cigar. The initial draw has little to no flavor. But after about 10 minutes, this cigar builds and builds. I don’t really believe that Cubans have a lot of transitions. I tend to think it is in people’s head. But the flavors did just build and build in intensity. The cigar was medium in strength, but had medium to full flavors, my perfect match. The flavor was a strong blast of cocoa, but no milk chocolate. Strong hints of cedar also was present. There was cream, but not as much as usual. Not a sweet cream, but a nice neutral cream. A nut presence came, and I describe is mostly as a dry walnut. All 4 flavors dominated the cigar thru most of the smoke building in intensity as the cigar went along. It was a complex smoke to me. I was very surprised since the cigar needed major work just to get it to smoke. The cigar lasted for 1 hour and 35 minutes. Back in 2013, CA gave this cigar/year the honor of cigar of the year. They may have been right. Along with that and 4 more years of age, this was one of the best cigars I’ve had in awhile. I gave this cigar a 95. I deducted points for it not being as creamy as I like and the operation I had to do to get it to smoke. I’m very glad that I picked up 5 boxes of these! 2

My ERC review on an Edmundo was packed solid just like yours. Cheers!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
TheMonk Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Nice job, although not sure a 2013 stick qualifies as vintage.
