Guest Nekhyludov Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I've never gotten around to trying a PLMC prior to this evening, so after reading so many laudatory posts here, I jumped at the chance to pick up a couple of these in a trade. Prior reviews suggest this will be an appropriately confectionery choice. Many thanks to @prodigy! The Montecarlo is a bit rustic in appearance, with a rough roll and a mottled wrapper. The color is a dark colorado though, and it has a nice toothiness to it. The aroma at cold is pungent and sweet. No earthiness or barnyard to speak of. The first few draws are generically sweet, with a bit of mongrel. By the second third, the mongrel is gone and the flavors have rounded out nicely. The sweetness has become peppery and smooth and tingles on the edges of the tongue, and there's a smoked hickory kind of note on the retrohale. Getting into the final third, the flavors become more straightforwardly woody. The small ring gauge leads to an accumulation of moisture at the head, resulting in some tarry sweetness. If there's any hint of the caramel flavors yet to come, it's in the aroma, which has a pleasant, mellow, burned sugar note. Overall, this was a really good cigar. But nothing at this early age causes it to stand out from the pack. I'm looking forward to revisiting the other single I have after a much longer nap than this one got.
MooseAMuffin Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I have been interested in trying some of these as well. Thanks for convincing me! Great pics as well!
grizzlee Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Love the Montecarlo. One of those pleasant surprise gems you stumble across now and then.
prodigy Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I believe that's a TOS box code. I'll let you know when I get home this evening. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
