Popular Post mkz Posted February 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2018 BCE TEB JUL 07 This box was my first with full bodied, strong cubans. Purchased from Czar on recommendation of other forum members back in the days when I was new in the world of Cuban cigars. It is actually one of my oldest self purchased boxes I have left in my humidor, and the reason for that is that these buggers always give me a serious nicotine rush afterwards. Only smoked a few every year and always the same result. I actually think one of these also knocked my brother out once. These cigars are the sole reason I got a love/hate relationship with Bolivar. Damn tasty but too strong! Let's give it a try. Still some oil on the wrappers, great aroma at cold and a perfect draw on the tighter side. Paired with Plantation Rum. 1/3 Opens up with heavy wood, pepper, luscious cream but bloody strong. Still full bodied and packed with nicotine. Are these actually over ten years old!?!? Is there a time vortex in my humidor? 2/3 A bit uneven burn but nemas problemas. Still heavy wood, earth tones, pepper. Swirls of cream with green and red pepper. It's tasty but very challenging. Feels like I'm in a chicken race with this old raging bull. Don't get me wrong. I'm really enjoying this race. But I can feel the buzz sneaking up on me. 3/3 Burn has straightened out nicely. Perhaps I'm getting used to the power, but it feels like it's mellowing out a bit. Mostly wood and green pepper now. Some light cedar on the edges. Almost a hickory like feeling to the wood. So good! Oh what wonders the years has made on the remnants of this box! I don't mind if I get impaled on its horns now. Totally worth it! The finish? Pepper on the back of my nose. Creamy wood on my tongue. Dark bread in my mouth. Still overwhelmed by its power. I think I need to go and lay down for a while. Cheers! Now I need something sweet! 14
Guantanamera Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 How was the rum. Curious how it compares to Cuban rum?

A gift from a lady friend who used to work as a bartender. Not sure how it compares to anything Cuban, but it goes damn well with cigars! 1
nvrp813 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Great review. I’m a big fan of Barbados rum and love the Plantation grande reserve. 2
shlomo Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Nice review. I have a few of those TEB 07 BCE left. I am always hesitant to reach for them as they are some of my favorites and so hard to find at any sort of reasonable price anymore. Cheers. 3

I never had any experience with Barbados rum before I got this bottle. Goes so damn well with the cigar smoke in the mouth. When this bottle is out I'm gonna buy a new one. 1

Down to my last eight. Should last me about four more years at this pace... 1
zeedubbya Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Hickory...interesting...I looked at my notes from a BCE I smoked a few months back...hmmmm....I think you nailed it!!“Final--much of same as second 3rd but that's not a problem really at all because the flavors are delicious. Still a fair amount of cedar/oak (who can really tell the difference--cedar has an awful taste. Very very bitter.). It's the smell of cedar or maybe oak, it's freshly cut wood which translates to the palate, not the taste of wood. I can’t quite put my finger on it...and I cannot believe they discontinued this cigar.”Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Raskol Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Damn tasty but too strong - Fully agree Great review & thank you. 1

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. 1

Lant63 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Nice review! I love aged bolivar. I find that around the 8-10 year mark some citrus notes start to develop. Goes great with the other darker flavors. 1
