What’s good now in Cuba

Recommended Posts

My buddy is going to Cuba in a week. He’s there every two weeks buying cigars at the lcdh as well as customs. Have my list down to

Connie A’s

Bolivar Finos

Monte 2’s

RJ Wide Churchill’s

Robaina Unicos

Any one aware what current production is like for these. Should i avoid any or steer towards. I’ve heard unicos and Wide Churchill are amazing right now.

I know someone who goes regularly as well and  has been going through Connie A’s super quick. But again, worst case, try one and put the rest for a nap. I myself have some current production Monte 2’s but haven’t gotten around to lighting one so I’m curious on this myself. If I dig into it, I’ll let you know

If he is there for a while I hear that customs are the way to go.  Also the diplo Cuba regional edition is great.

Certain Customs are head and shoulders above regular production. Problem is those guys are backed up with orders. It’s hard to get a bundle. You have to reserve 3 months out. Chinese have caught on and are in a buying frenzy when it comes to customs and anything else exquisite

Best cigar I had in Cuba a few weeks ago was a Connie 1. At $157, it's a no-brainer. Mostly 16 & 17 stock but you can find some 15 if you dig.

There are absolutely zero Cuba ERs anywhere right now, nor any ELs. If you know the right people in the right places it might be possible to score a RyJ WC Gran Reserva box as they are just trickling in right now.

Best customs I had there were Reynaldo's Sublimes. Arnaldo's Lonsdales were pretty good too.

I'm actually working on a post for Cuba Travel forum so I will mention this, should have it up next week.  I picked up a box of Saint Luis Rey Marquez (10) (Cuban ER) in Varadero at LCDH Plaza Americas  117CUC if I'm not mistaken.  I asked they had 8 boxes.

I picked up a box last week at the same LCDH. That was the price.

Monty 2 were non-existent  in Cuba this summer.  Only one place had that (forgot the name, but it was the LCDH that is the furthest east in Havana where you have to tell the guard you are going to the LCDH or they charge you a visit fee).  They had 4.  I bought them all.  3 were amazing, one box was not that impressive.
