Pharmacovigilant Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Saw this today on Halfwheel. Not much of an expansion in terms of percentage of what's being planted now. Let's hope it gets put to good use. http://halfwheel.com/cuba-plans-expanded-2018-crop/208172
NSXCIGAR Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 One would think this also means Cubatabaco is going to increase the farmers' pay as this is the only realistic way they will be able to expand the crop at this point.

Two problems with that statement. It assumes common sense will be applied and that they have the money to pay them. 2
oakalley Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 What does this amount to? About a 1.5% increase, hardly more than a "rounding error" in the total scheme of things. Of course any increase will probably be appreciated. Hopefully the increase will be devoted to high quality tobacco for hand rolled cigarsSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
TheGipper Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Pfft. Irrelevant. The folks at Buzzwheel are now pushing what are largely cigarette tobacco numbers as relevant to the relatively tiny market occupied by us hand rolled cigar enthusiasts. 1

And even late on the news and pretty poorly presented. Also, e.g. the delayed release of the HU Reserva had nothing to do with recent crop shortages (and what means "short supply" anyway?- a run of 5,000 boxes is 5,000 boxes.... ).
PigFish Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 ... Tabacuba must have struck a deal to buy 2 new oxen! -Piggy 3
