Leon8716 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 So I know this isn’t as big as our previous storms over the past couple of weeks but, Ireland is about to experience its largest storm in 50 years. Today pretty much the whole country is on lock down. Schools, Businesses, Public Transport, shopping centre all over the country have closed today in fear of what its to bring. The predicted areas which are to receive the most damage are the south/west parts of the island(Cork, Kerry, Galway, Mayo and Donegal) I’m living in Dublin and although we’re not in the path, already we can feel the wind speeds picking up. If you know Ireland, you’ll know we don’t operate very well in these type of situations ( the country usually collapses when there’s 2inches of snow) so there’s a lot of panic. Already there is 22,000 people in the south west without power. And our electricity supplier for the country advised that a nationwide power loss is to be expected. With the power situation on mind, let’s hope I’m not missing anything too special on 24:24 tonight. Any to any members in the worst affected areas, Stay Safe!! Catch you all when it passes!leon8716
Ryan Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Hey Leon, "avoid unnecessary journeys!" I'm in Dublin too. Not too bad yet but they're saying from about now until 5 or 6 pm here. A few of us have a herf going in McGrattans in Dublin 2 on Wednesday evening, from about 8:30 on. Come along if you can, the more the merrier.
Leon8716 Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 "avoid unnecessary journeys!"Didn’t want to add this quote Ryan, didn’t think many would get itAppreciate brother! Getting married on Saturday, don’t think I could manage a session tonight!Enjoy and stay safe!
CrankYanker Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I was in Punta Cana when Maria hit. 115 mph winds for 8 hours or so and then lots of rain. Stay safe in the wild ride. 1
Shaunster Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 We are a long way from the storm here near Portsmouth but its been strange today, this system has bought with it loads of dust from Sahara and the sky is really red and murky. Very odd, seen the dust many times but usually only after rain on cars.Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 1

Leon8716 Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 I am sure they drank their way through it It’s funny, you’re actually right! Bars in Dublin has their busiest Monday all year!By means of an update, the cost of damage has probably reached €1 Billion currently.Dublin got away very lightly!
Ryan Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 All fine here. Checked my roof this morning, no problem. Three people in the country killed by the hurricane, all from falling trees. Much more damage in Portugal where winds from the hurricane have driven wildfires and killed dozens. By the way, best of luck with the wedding on Saturday Leon! Come out for a herf soon, I think there's another one on November 9th, same location. We'll have cigars. 1
